2007 Bike Update IV

Bike Days this season: 5

Flying Dog Trail, Jeremy Ranch: 1
Bonneville South Shoreline Trail, Salt Lake City: 2
John’s Trail, Park City: 1
Dog Lake, Salt Lake City: 1

Dog lake is a very relaxing ride…when the road is open. Otherwise it is a torturous four mile road climb (little over 1300′ vertical climb) just to get to the trail head, from there it is a another four miles or so on trail and a climb of about 1200′ to Dog Lake. Josh busted his rear derailleur .2 miles from the trail and had to single speed the rest.

Fun part was on the way down we hit 50mph on the asphalt road.
I should have pics of Dog Lake, Shorline, Park City, and the Baldy Hike from two weeks ago at some point in the future. Just trying to get photos from peoples cameras.

On saturday went to Park City and rode up from resort parking lot. Roughly three hour climb to the ridge-line and then rode into Deer Valley. Flew down under the town lift on a John’s Trail. Very dense aspen trees to the point of having to manual on the back tire while rotating the the handlebars so you didn’t clip trees. Super sketchy!

Today (sunday) rode above campus again trying to find the bobsled single track. Gave up after a couple hours.

Probably heading to big cottonwood canyon to do some riding on monday.

I ride my bike pretty much everyday (around campus), but I’m only going to update this when its on a trail or some expedition of some kind-

Rode up the canyons behind my campus today. Then went bombing down through campus to the trax. Then it got pretty lazy waiting for the train…Fun few hours-

Gotta go get my laundry, heading to park city in about 45m for some trail riding.

Broke in my new bike (KHS AM1000) last Sunday. Just after skinning/boot packing up baldy in 30″+ of fresh snow 3 days before. Needless to say I could barely walk the first half of the week.

The nine mile, 1500′ vertical ascent took a couple hours. The decent took about 10 minutes. Still awesome.

No pictures of the bike trail last weekend, but I should have at least two sets after this weekend.

P.S. Working on getting pictures of the Baldy ski, should have them by next monday or so-
