48″ in 48 hours. Those are numbers I can live with. ‘Bout time you showed back up winter, we were wondering where you went.
Video footage is being captured/compiled. HelmetCast 18 is on its way.

What winter looks like.

View from base camp.

Welcome back Ullr, I missed you, as always…

Oh school, how you interfere with my skiing far too often. Seems like it was in bad taste that the UofU puts finals week right when we get the first big storms of the season.
Every year.

Things to do while waiting for snow:

  • Stand under snow machines and pretend you’re getting face shots on a mid-February pow day.
  • Show up at noon, sit on the tram deck and get a goggle tan. If anyone asks why you’re not skiing, say you shredded hard all morning and are trying not to irritate a knee/back/foot injury.
  • Steal food. From everyone and everywhere.
  • Make up stories on the chair to people from Wisconsin. Personal favorite: I was just released from prison this morning and this is the first place I came. There is no way I’m ever going back.
  • See how far into Snowbird’s valet parking lot you can get your car without getting noticed.
  • Keep asking your friends which run they’re skiing, even though there is only one run open. That joke never gets old, right guys? RIGHT?!?!?
  • Hold impromptu big mountain competitions on areas of the hill with the least snow. Just make sure you’re the first person to ski down.
  • Annoy your friends by acting like a meteorologist. “Big low pressure system moving in here. Jet stream will be right overhead. Should get some serious action. Lake effect. Precipitation. Tropical Front. Other buzz words.”
  • Lie about lines/cliffs you’ve already hit this season. I just stomped Kong. On rock. No I wasn’t scared. I’m extreme.

A forecast I can get behind…

Ullr. Show yourself damnit. I know you’re there, stop teasing me and deliver the goods.
Jake

No more shameless self promotion! The voting portion of the Office Winter Games Contest is over and I can go back to being narcissistic without any justification instead of being narcissistic so I can get a free trip to the Olympics.

A big thanks to Gizmodo, Gadgetsteria, Deseret News and everyone else out there who helped me get votes! Hopefully it’s enough to score me some free stuff.

Here are some photos I took with the Deseret News last week for an article they wrote on my greatness.
(Big Thanks to Ravell Call for the photos and Wendy Leonard for the article!)

I make 4″ of groomed ice look like 40″ of blower pow

I got heckled from the chair while nailing this lifestyle shot

It’s never too early to send it

Canada, Washington, Italy, and Switzerland. C’mon Ullr, you’re delivering all this snow to the wrong address.
EIGHT-OH-ONE. Bring the goods, overnight, early morning delivery, I’ll pay for shipping.
Jake

09/10 Ski Update 6

Sorry to keep bugging everyone with this, but I have to re-post it
**(KEEP) VOTING FOR ME**

Send me to the Olympics in February on Microsoft’s dime by voting for me on this site: https://www.officewintergames.com/contestants.aspx
It falls between two competitions I want to do this season, will probably screw up my Computer Science classes and make me reconsider my hopes and dreams, but who cares. I can run up a $1,500 pay-per-view movie tab on Microsoft’s bill. That should make us even for Vista…

(I’m Jake from the University of Utah if you haven’t figured that out yet…)
So Vote (you can vote once a day) for me and help me take a rad trip.
Thanks!

10″ of fresh last night made today the first powder day of the season and if I have to keep skiing Big Emma I’m going to go crazy.

While I’m still looking over footage from today I thought I’d take this moment to post some summer ski stoke from the last couple years so we can all appreciate the snow we have right now (even if it isn’t enough)…

Okay Ullr, we all love the PNW, but it’s time to bring some snow to the Wasatch…

09/10 Ski Update 5

First, someone suggested I add music to this site to make it more entertaining and because I’m pandering to my crowd for votes, I figured I’d give it a shot…

Second, a reminder in case you missed my last entry (you can vote once a day):

So far I’ve pulled two days on Snowbird’s ice carpet down Gad Valley. It’s totally awesome. 40 Big Emma laps later and Nik and I now know every zone on that run you can try a 180.

Ya…UT needs some snow.

Here’s some photos from the last time snow hit me in the face…

Oh winter, you are so damn fun

I spot my landings with emo style

No fake tanning here ladies, that pale skin tone is 100% natural…

Superior done right

I <3 my powder beard

Hey, Ullr, I know it’s been awhile, but we’d all really like to see you here in the 801…
