(Brighton 11/28) The ribbon.

[audio:dubplate.mp3]

After arriving at Brighton and finding the backcountry scene to be grim, Josh and I headed to the parking lot to score some cheap lift tickets. There was fresh pow in places, but with no base you hit bottom pretty quick. Still fun and worth the Hamilton.

(UofU Dorms 11/27) Finally.

[audio:allaboutu.mp3]

As much as I’d like to act as though this dry November hasn’t phased me, I have trouble saying it honestly all the time.
The reality is each day of sunshine that goes by and each time I watch a storm system break up on its way here I get a little more bummed out. It adds a footnote to everything making good not as good and bad even worse.
So when today’s storm finally hit it was like the weight started to lift and I could relax again. With Alta/Snowbird planning to open friday I rest a little easier tonight knowing that good times are in the near future.

Here are some pictures from around my dorm area, taken today. Pardon the quality, I’m still getting used to this camera.

(Grand Targhee 11/24) My first time…

…resort skiing this season.

[audio:longnights.mp3]

With Utah rocking low snow like it’s going out of style Josh, Lance, Doug, Tim, Madeline and myself decided to do a 4am departure to Grand Targhee in Wyoming with 66 of their 72 trails were open for all to enjoy!

Departure Time: 3am.

Lance up early in Idaho.

Arrival at mecca.

Finally.

Everything looks better with snow.

Lance with style I can only refer to as: Lance Air.

It’s not skiing unless I jump off a dozen different things.

Now I’m going to enjoy being tired, lazy, and sore-

(Alta 10/21) Hucktoberfest

After last night’s sketchy boot pack excursion, Wes and I decided to head up to Alta early this morning and enjoy the storm that ambushed Darren and I yesterday. Most of the awesome pictures were taken by Wes ‘One-Planker’ Morin.

Nothing says a good day like the smell of fresh powder in the morning.

Long road ahead.

When will the sun come out?

Darren, ascending High Rustler.

Rustler Ridgeline = suckville.

This should be fun in ski boots.

Dropping.

Commencing Powder.

Looked like a good idea…

..looks can be deceiving.

Wes, with the laid back style.

With enough speed…

…Hero Shot!

Three out of the last four days I’ve spent bootpacking…I’m taking a nap…

Alta 10/20

Pictures from Darren and I’s boot pack through the storm to ski high rustler before tomorrow’s epic powder day. The weather got shitty so all I have is pictures of the ascent-

Darren, leading the charge.

Me…not wanting to fall backwards.

Darren, using his toes over the rocks of doom.

Wow…that wasn’t a fun crossing with zero visibility.

At the top!

The storm was in full effect as we left.

See you tomorrow, in the deep.
